Isn't it fascinating to go through the memories of our life and see a mysterious pattern of events that might not have seemed important at the time, but then realize the beauty of all the dots connecting. Your shared stories are a perfect illustration of that! It's all rather wondrous in spite of the trials and tribulations that have brought us all this far. It's enough to put a smile on my face whenever I breathe my last breath.

Love that story. Reminds me when I was in high schooling thinking about my future, the last thing I wanted was to be on the “conveyor belt of life” that I saw everyone going on. And any time during my adulthood that my life became conventional, I made a change. We have to live life on our own terms. It’s only right.

I gave up piano for writing in my late 30s and then had two concussions and can't write 😂 now I suck at both haha. I always wanted to live in New York City! 😍 Now I don't think so, but I wish I had!

Grew up on SW Louisiana, so Coonass, not Cajun, country :) Funny, but from the age of 10 or so I never thought I'd live there as an adult. And I haven't. Just back from being down there for 7 weeks and, as much as I love and miss my family, still don't want to live down there.

No epiphany or anything I can point to, just always a feeling that my life wouldn't be lived there.

Drove back along 81, stopping in at New Market to finally walk around the battlefield, and always enjoy how low-key beautiful that part of Virginia is.

Sugah, I was born and raised in Lake Charles, my parents would not allow us to refer to ourselves as Coonass. I still don’t. I wouldn’t go back to Louisiana even if wild horses dragged me. I live nestled in the Blue Ridge Mts.

I grew up in Missouri, moved to NC, TN, VA, a brief misstep to southern AR about 15 miles from Louisiana and returned to NC like skeeters were after me.

Aren't there mosquitos in NC?

Also, "Louisiana" as everyone thinks of it -- swamps, fishing, NOLA, cajuns -- only really exists just above and south of I-10. The north part of the state up there is just South Arkansas -- piney woods and baptists :)

I was actually in Southern Arkansas. I do love paddling in the swamps. But I just couldn’t stand going outside at 100 degrees and seeing humidity, not just feeling but actually seeing it like fog.

As for Louisiana, I never trusted the police there. 60 Minutes did a story about them strip searching women along the highway.

Was just in Sulphur mostly. I do miss Tony's Pizza though. And boudin.
