I recognize that mood! Especially after a bad night sleep.

It’s my body, saying, “oh honey, today you need to care for yourself. Block out everything else from your little brain, and give yourself the good food and the comfortable surroundings and the quality rest that you need. Tomorrow will be better. I promise.”

When I listen, tomorrow is better and I’m back to my old self, curious and intelligent and capable, and living my very best life. When I don’t listen and just power through, I’m living through a horrible day. And probably another bad one tomorrow.

This is a powerful observation when we all feel so compelled to ‘get on with the day and always be happy and productive’ ✨🙏

Your post struck a chord. So many times we do throw the whole day, afternoon , evening away, based on that one feeling. As you say we can redeem some of that by allowing ourselves to enjoy what enables our spirit. Thank you.

Feeling this essay Monica! I feel like I have been in a mood for the entire week lol! I've conditioned myself over the years to believe that a day is wasted if I had not achieved something. The something had to be tangible and pushed me further towards what ever invisible standard I had set for myself and had to uphold. Now when I'm in a can't be 'f*cked mood, I choose something that makes me feel good rather than choosing life admin or achievement stuff. I think I've boiled my sometimes 'not in the mood' vibe down to; it is what it is...

Great post, and I completely get the feeling. More often than not, I excuse myself because of my age and health issues, but I’ve felt this way even when I was much younger. I wonder sometimes, am I just lazy, or was I born this way? Who knows. Still, it was a relief to see your post and the great photo, and to know someone like you seems to have an Energizer battery, creating posts, products, and content across so many platforms.

"What am I feeling, what do I need, what could I do today that keeps me connected to myself?" What GREAT questions to start one's day! Such a good article. We don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
