I Had a Plan. The Universe Had a Plot Twist.” 🤦♀️
One month into reclaiming dreams, and guess what? The universe decided to shake things up. Tech fails, work chaos, and an unexpected art breakthrough—but hey, who needs a straight path when the detour
One Month In—What’s Next?
We are nearing one full month together on this journey to reclaim our dreams from times past.
And guess what? I’m still in the process of reclaiming mine, too. Sure, I have one already—but hey! There’s no limit on dreams… and no deadlines either.
In the coming essays, we’ll be diving into some BIG topics, with plenty of pith, intrigue, and action steps to keep us moving forward:
🔹 Your Empty Nest Isn’t Empty—It’s Finally YOURS
🔹 Dreams Don’t Have Expiration Dates (Even If Society Thinks So) ⏳🔥
🔹 You’ve Spent Decades Taking Care of Others… Now What? 💭
🔹 Boomers, We Are NOT Our Grandmothers 👏😂
All week, I’ve been jotting down notes on these topics, and I’m eager to flesh them out for us.
Fear, Paint, and Playing in White 🎨
I took a small detour back to my easel this week. This painting has been sitting there for four months. And honestly? I don’t like it. I started it just to experiment with a purple-dominant palette.
And then… I stalled out.
Now, I know myself. Ideas ebb and flow, so instead of panicking, I turned my attention elsewhere.
But this week? Everything stalled. Writing. Painting. Thinking. (Anyone else?)
So, I did the only thing that made sense—I sat, stared at the painting, and waited. Until I heard:
👉🏼 Pick up the mop brush, grab white paint, and just play.
So, I did. I played. I giggled. I made a mess. And you know what? I have no clue if I improved the painting, but I do know I had FUN.
And that’s exactly what this temporary fear freeze needed. Because yes, I freeze when I’m afraid. My antidote? Do something I don’t do daily. This time? Painting in all white.
Mission accomplished.
What’s Next?
As The West Wing’s Jed Bartlet always asked: “What’s next?”
🔹 Tech Fail & Fundraising for a New Computer
The meditation recording I sent out yesterday? Oops. The volume was painfully low. That’s on me. I checked it on my phone but didn’t test it on my desktop. Lesson learned.
It also made one thing clear: It’s time for a new computer.
So, if you’d like to help me raise funds without upgrading to a paid membership, you can support me through Buy Me a Coffee. The HP laptop I have my eye on is around $400, and getting it would make a world of difference in creating better content for you.

🔹 The Work Saga Continues
Remember that rollercoaster about working with my daughter? Well, the ride isn’t over. One minute, I had a job. The next? Poof. Nothing.
It was a whirlwind of emotions, but I leaned on my all-time favorite scripture, Psalm 23, to regain my footing and find peace of mind.
The Big Realization
At the end of the day, I don’t have to choose.
I can paint, write, and help my daughter all within an 8-hour day. I don’t have to sacrifice one for the other—and that’s the real gift.
Which one gets my attention? That’s my choice. And that’s pretty darn nifty.
Wherever you are in this wide, wonderful world—have a fantastic weekend!
💙 Monica
