Me vs. the Universe (Spoiler: It Won)
Laughing at the Genius of the Universe
Have you ever looked back at your life and laughed—really laughed—at how the universe was quietly setting you up for something you couldn’t see at the time?
That’s exactly what I’m doing right now.
Years ago, part of my dream came true—I was finally living in NYC! But here’s the catch: I wasn’t making art. Instead, I was running a music business with my husband. We supplied musicians for swanky parties and corporate events in the city. It was exciting, but something still felt… off.
My husband, being a working musician, often played gigs late into the night, arriving home around 2 or 3 AM. You know, the typical schedule of a musician. And here’s where the laugh comes in—he’d sleep well into the following morning, leaving me with three glorious hours of uninterrupted time.
At first, I was miffed. My logic understood his schedule, but my heart? Not so much. I felt frustrated, even lonely. But then something shifted. I realized I had a choice: I could stew in my feelings, or I could do something with that quiet window of time.
So, I began to write.
What started as casual journaling quickly became my sanctuary. My journal knew everything—my thoughts, my frustrations, my hopes, and dreams. Writing became my ritual, my anchor, my way of reconnecting with myself in a life that didn’t quite feel like my own
.(“Bathtub Beach” My ideal vacation: taking a soak on the beach! I know th euniverse got a chorkle from this one! )
Here’s the funny part: I still do it. Writing first thing in the morning—before breakfast, before dressing, before anything else—has stayed with me all these years. Back then, I had no idea this simple habit was preparing me for this moment: sharing my thoughts, stories, and ideas with you.
Oh, the genius of the universe!
What About You?
Maybe you’re a young adult, wondering why you’re drawn to certain habits or routines that don’t seem to make much sense right now. Trust me—there’s a purpose waiting to reveal itself.
Or maybe you’re a boomer like me, looking back at the habits or patterns you developed in your younger years. Which of those habits still serve you today? And even more, could they help you reclaim a dream you thought was long gone?
Take a moment to reflect. What’s one habit from your past—or one you’re building right now—that might be quietly preparing you for something greater?
Let’s Laugh Together
The universe has a funny way of working, doesn’t it? Share your thoughts with me—I’d love to hear what habits or patterns have shaped your journey.
Let’s laugh together at the genius of the universe and take one small step toward reclaiming our dreams.
Do you enjoy coffee when you journal? I sure do. A LOT of it! LOL
