7 years ago I got a dreamy car. ❤️. She is red with a white leather interior. She is a Tesla Model 3 (tho I am no fan of Elon Musk, didn’t know much about him at the time). I named her Ruby.
I was so tickled with her features, that I decided to do home visits with all my third grade students so I could show them the features of an electric car—including her toy box.
Little did I know how helpful those home visits would be. In October, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Because I knew my kids so well, they and their parents rallied around me. Those kids stepped up the pace and learned how to govern/manage their class when I had to be gone. They did so well, their mid-year test scores shot through the roof! Best in my little district! Because of that, my principle figured out a way for me to stay on while I had chemo (part-time with insurance no less), and they hired a young grad who hadn’t had student teaching yet to be their every day. I came in when I could to mentor her. (That was not easy for her! Chemo brain fog is real!! I didn’t always remember what she had taught while I was absent. 🤦🏽♀️)
Anyway, I still have Ruby. I now have 4 grands and two car seats in the back seat! She has been a beautiful car to own. ❤️
