Start keeping a NURTURE ME list!
Naptime! Not for me! ( not even in my dreams) I used to think I had to earn rest. Never would I allow myself taking a nap! That would be like a betrayal to all who depended upon me. Getting a nap was like a dessert I only got after working myself raw. As though rest and peace was something I had to prove I deserved. Those days are long gone.
Here’s what I know now:
If your to-do list still looks like a survival plan from 1993, it might be time to rewrite it.
Boomers—especially my brilliant, giving, exhausted women—listen up:
You don’t need a longer list. You need a different list.
Shoot I don’t like lists and try to avoid them. So instead of a list, let’s call this your NURTURE ME acitivites:
These activities include:
Time to breathe. Slow, long deep breaths with your hands over your heart. This one works wonders for me. It’s my go-to, especially when I am mentally pushing my own limits. 2-3 minutes tops, is all it takes to reset your nervous sytem and provide you ease.
Moments to notice beauty. A reader sent a snap shot of peach colored iris’. Their dellicate being took my breath away - and most importanly gave me a moment of pause. ( BTW, on Substack in the chat for MONIROSE SOUL, we share a photo of something that made us smile that day. It’s becoming very interesting! Maybe you can share a moment of your day that made you smile with a swift click of your phone camera. )
Space to ask, “What do I want today?” instead of “What needs to get done?” This is the biggie, this is the MUST do, to realign with the intentions of your soul, your being. A reasonable practice is to keep a small notebook with a pen handy, just jot down thoughts, paying no mind to grammer, just jot them down. Nobody will see this, this is your secret little “ It’s my time” journal. It works wonders for you to being to really hear that small voice, that little nudge that is calling to you.
