The Art of Handling Life’s Swings
or when life heaps trash over your passions.
Last night, for the first time in my life, I fell asleep smiling—thinking about how much I love myself and my life.
Today? A complete 180.
Life threw one thing after another at me. Court in the morning, an unexpected visit from my kid (because their dad was rushed to the ER), two long, frustrating meetings, and zero time for my own work. I felt pulled in every direction but the one I wanted to go. My momentum? Gone. My groove? Lost. And I could feel the frustration creeping in.
But here’s what I know—this is just a swing.
Most people don’t know how to handle these swings. They take the hits, let them pile up, and suddenly, they’re stuck. Or worse, they live like a human pinball—bouncing from one thing to the next, no direction, no control.
But we don’t have to live that way.
Here’s what I’m doing instead: I’m sitting still. Not trying to force my way back. Not spiraling into self-doubt. Just letting the chaos pass by. I’m not making decisions from exhaustion. I’m not questioning my passion. Because my passion isn’t gone—it’s just buried under the clutter of today. And tomorrow? I’ll wake up, do my morning meditation, sip my coffee, and get back to building the life I love.
This is the difference between losing momentum and knowing it will return.
Life will swing. That’s a given. But how you handle the swing? That’s a choice.
So tell me—how do you handle the swings? Or do they handle you?
