Women over 60: Loving Yourself in 3-Minute Increments
No routines. No guilt. Just small moves that matter.
A few days ago, I bought a 3-pound dumbbell. Just one. I wasn’t ready to commit to a full set—I wanted to see what I’d actually do with it.
Spoiler alert: I use it.
But not in a “set your timer and put on yoga pants” kind of way.
My dumbbell lives on the kitchen counter.
If I’m microwaving something for three minutes, I don’t scroll my phone anymore. I grab the dumbbell and do some arm curls. Balance out both sides. Maybe throw in a few resistance band leg kicks while something simmers on the stove.
That’s my stamina practice.
No schedule. No sweat app.
Just movement in the margins of my day.
Because here’s what I’ve learned:
Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to look like a ritual. It can look like living.
Journaling? Same thing.
You don’t need a leather-bound notebook and a tea ceremony.
You get a thought, speak it into your phone, and move on.
So many of us—especially in our generation—were raised with structure. With rules. With morning routines that felt like performance. Now we’re in a season where that doesn’t fit. And honestly? It doesn’t need to.
The only routine I still honor daily is making my bed. And that’s just because I like the way it looks.
Everything else? Flexible. Malleable. Guilt-free.
This stage of life is for soul-designed living.
And just so you know, the back of my arms—the space between my elbow and my shoulder—is starting to firm up. All from curling a 3-pound dumbbell while the microwave hums.
So maybe loving yourself doesn’t have to take 30 minutes.
Maybe it just takes three.
