Just found your page and looking forward to reading your writing. I'm definitely a boomer...I have a Facebook blog page called Boomers on Board as we sold our house to live on a narrow boat almost 4 years ago. We've now also bought a motorhome to extend our travels. I've had a few tough years after a complete burnout, but slowly finding 'me'. More power to us 🙂 Karen
Oh Karen, I absolutely love this! A narrowboat and now a motorhome—what a gorgeous rebellion against “settling down.” You didn’t just reclaim your dream—you set it sailing! 🛶🚐
Burnout has a way of cracking us open, doesn’t it? But in that slow return, that gentle uncovering of who we really are… that’s where the gold is. I’m so honored to have you here. More power to us, indeed. Welcome to the porch, sister. 💛
Thanks Monica, great to be here! It's been a really tough time (I've written about it on Substack as Saved by Grace as I named our boat Grace) but I'm reclaiming my 'self' now. It's taking time to rewire my brain and change my responses, but slowly and steadily I'm grounding myself after being in flight mode for years.
Happy to be sharing conversation and friendship with you 🥰
Oh, friend… this response made my eyes well up. Because that’s exactly it. Life did get loud. And in the noise, so many of us forgot that our dreams weren’t gone—they were just waiting for the volume to drop so we could hear them again.
I’m honored to hold this quiet space where we can finally listen. Where we can sit, sip something warm, and begin the tender act of remembering. You’re already stirring—and that means something beautiful is waking up in you.
I’ll be right here on the porch when you’re ready to take the next step.
Your words stirred me in return—and yes, I feel the collective pulse too. We’re waking up, together. And isn’t that the most beautiful kind of revolution?
