Back to the ( your) Future
Back to yourself.........
When I began this Substack, I didn’t do it to become a mentor—and certainly not a life coach. That was never the goal, and it still isn’t.
What I did know was that I had something real to share. Not answers, not formulas—just the lived truth of a woman who has lost and found herself more than once, who knows what it feels like to brush up against a dream and think, maybe that was never meant for me after all.
My friends ask why I pour so much of myself into this publication. Why I write with such verve. Why do I keep showing up, day after day.
The answer is simple.
Because I’ve lived the kind of life that happens when you don’t yet know how to reclaim your dreams. I’ve wandered through the hollow places of survival, of expectation, of waiting for someone else to tell me it was okay to want more. And I’ve also lived the awakening. The slow return. The beauty of coming home to the self I almost forgot.
That’s why I write.
Not to teach. Not to lead. But to walk along side. To be a champion for other women—especially my fellow boomers and midlife gals—who feel the stirrings of something they can’t quite name. Who sense that there’s more… but aren’t yet sure what it looks like.
If this space becomes a soft landing place for even one woman who needs to remember that her dream still matters, then I have done what I came here to do.
This is not a school. It’s not a platform. It’s a porch. A porch where we can gather to help each other in our quest to re-claim our dreams.
And I’ll be here—coffee in hand, heart wide open—holding space for whatever comes next.
✨ BACK TO YOURSELF: For the Future You Still Want
MAYBE You don’t need a time machine.
MAYBE You just need a moment of truth.
Somewhere between the dishes and the deadlines, the caregiving and the coping, the dreams you once held with stars in your eyes… was set down.
And now, maybe something's stirring again.
A flicker.
A whisper.
A tug at your soul that says:
"Hey... remember me?"
I know this voice well. It's the one that pulled me out of survival mode, into mission. Out of performance, into purpose. Out of the life I was told to want, and back to the one I was born to live.
And now I want to help you do the same.
But in order to walk with you, I need to know where you are on the map.
Because this isn't about selling a dream. This is about reclaiming one.
🧭 LET’S GO BACK TO GO FORWARD
Below, you’ll find three sections—each one a little checkpoint. A pulse check. A place to pause and whisper something real.
If you’re brave enough to drop your answers in the comments, I’ll meet you there with full-hearted attention.
(Or just journal your responses for yourself. That counts, too.)
1️⃣Go back… to the girl you used to be.
🔵What did she love before the world told her who to be?
🔵What’s tugging at your soul that you haven’t said out loud?
🔵When was the last time you felt truly alive?
2️⃣ The Dream GPS
Where are you now—really?
🟣Do you know what your dream is right now?
🟣What would you love to create—but aren’t sure how to start?
🟣What fear is keeping your dream in the “someday” folder?
3️⃣ Your Support Crew (That’s Me)
Let’s build a future with the right fuel.
💌 WHY THIS MATTERS
Because I know what it feels like to tuck a dream away.
Not because you gave up—but because life got loud.
Because survival took center stage.
Because you forgot what it was like to feel lit up from the inside.
Perhaps you remember the version of you who once dared to dream?
She’s not gone.
She’s just waiting.
Waiting for you to whisper, “I remember now. And I think I’m ready.”
And when you do—even just a little—
life will begin shifting in the most unexpected ways to meet you there.
I know, because it happened to me.
You’ve read the stories. You’ve seen the shifts. I just wish you could see me dancing around my home! Bursts of soulful dancing occur regularly!
Now it’s your turn.
Let’s turn the light gently in your direction.
Where are you, love?
I’ll meet you there—with grace, grit, and coffee on the porch.
Always with love,
Monica Rose

Just found your page and looking forward to reading your writing. I'm definitely a boomer...I have a Facebook blog page called Boomers on Board as we sold our house to live on a narrow boat almost 4 years ago. We've now also bought a motorhome to extend our travels. I've had a few tough years after a complete burnout, but slowly finding 'me'. More power to us 🙂 Karen
