Meet Hissy Fit Henrietta. Sheβs Not Running My Life!
Ever have one of those days when something gets under your skin, and before you know it, your good energy has packed its bags and left the building?
That happened to me today.
A couple of self-appointed morality monitors took issue with my language on Facebook. Iβm an irreverent ex-preacherβs wife, and let me tell you, being corrected according to somebody elseβs religious standards pushes a few of my buttons.
But hereβs the interesting part. I thought Iβd brushed it off. Three hours later, I realized I was still agitated, and it was sucking the energy right out of me.
So I pulled out a little game I call Hissy Fit Henrietta.
Itβs a playful way to interrupt an unpleasant feeling before it takes over your entire day.
First, you catch the little squatter whoβs made herself comfortable in your head. Then you give her a ridiculous name. You can even draw her! Once you can laugh at the feeling instead of being consumed by it, something begins to shift.
Then you evict her from the driverβs seat, move your body, and do something that feels genuinely delicious. Not productive. Not responsible. Just enjoyable.
For me, that involved a piece of homemade fudge.
And wouldnβt you know it? My energy came roaring back.
In this live video, Iβm sharing the whole game, how it worked for me, and how you can use it whenever irritation, frustration, disappointment, or some other unwelcome emotion starts stealing your joy.
Hereβs what I want you to remember: Just because an emotion shows up doesnβt mean you have to hand it the keys to your life.
Iβve already posted the Hissy Fit Henrietta game in my Substack Notes, so you can grab a copy and try it yourself.
And I have a question for you: What ridiculous name would YOU give your unpleasant feelings?
Come on, weβve got some creative people around here. Letβs hear them!
Weβre not done yet. Not by a long shot.
Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video!
PS the whole game is posted in my NOTES on Substack.
