Drama BEFORE Breakfast

The Morning Shift That Changed My Whole Life

Do you remember when you woke up and before your feet hit the floor you were already responsible for three other people’s emotions?

Not even your own day. Not your own body. Not your own thoughts.

Everybody else

Little Johnny needs help with a science project.
Sally Sue has a first date.
Your job is waiting.
Your volunteer thing is waiting.
The household needs you.

And sometimes the drama stacks.
Two crises before breakfast.

And you loved them. Of course you did.
But that constant outward focus trained your nervous system to wake up on duty.

Here’s what I want to say out loud:
I don’t wake up like that anymore.

And it’s not because I’m older.
It’s not because I retired.
It’s not because my kids don’t matter.

It’s because I did a year of work that taught my system to stop waking up in worry.
