Tonight’s live started with an old video I made during a period where I kept asking, “Where’s my breakthrough?”
But when I watched it again tonight, I realized something deeper was happening underneath the frustration. Every time I tried to conform to what other people told me I should do, should study, should become, I lost connection with myself a little more. The breakthrough never came through conformity. It came through paying attention.
So tonight we talked about uncertainty, nervous system overload, doom-scrolling, and the quiet ways people unconsciously conform to fear. I shared a few simple things I personally do to calm myself when the world feels loud: staring at the sky, relaxing the muscles around my eyes, breathing “I am,” and even standing outside looking at the moon long enough to remember wonder still exists.
Call it strange if you want. I truly don’t care anymore. If one person walks away from this video and remembers they’re allowed to tend to themselves instead of marinating in collective panic all day, then I’ve done my job.
Thank you India Pryor, Jo, and many others for tuning into my live video! Join me for my next live video in the app.
